10,000 words a day...

I read recently that the average girl/woman has about 30,000 words a day they need/want to use. And that the average boy/man only has 10,000. It went on to say that it is important to be patient with your husband and sons, understanding that they just don't have as much to say as you do. Well, these so called experts apparently haven't met my son! I honestly believe that Ben has about 50,000 words a day. He wants to talk about everything and be included in every conversation. And he's been way past those simple "why" questions for at least 6 months now. His questions are much more in depth and non-stop! I do see it as a blessing realizing all the things he's learning, all the thoughts and emotions he's sharing and all the many ways it has brought us closer... but I have to admit that sometimes tucked away in the back of my head is a little voice that says... "Please just stop talking! I need some quiet!" And it turns out that it's me who needs some peace and quiet at the end of the day when Marc comes home and he ends up having to be patient with me :)

The following conversation which he had with me in entirety before he paused for me to answer is just a small example of his chattiness! And it proves that I'm not the only one who thinks lots of pictures are important :)

"Mom, you have your camera with you? Will you take a picture of me? Wearing my helmet? We wear helmets when we ride our bikes? So we don't get boo boos on our heads? Why we get boo boos on our heads? You have your helmet mom? You need to put your helmet on first. You have your tennis shoes on? I have my sandals. I want to wear tennis shoes too. You want to wear your sandals or your tennis shoes? Which ones you want? You got for your socks? Mom, you take the picture yet?"
