Our First Germany Adventures

What wonderful adventures we've had so far. Here are some photos from our first full month exploring Germany.

Our favorite German restaurant activity is building castles out of the beer coasters!
Lots of the festivals have mini carnivals. This was Benjamin's favorite ride.
The oldest Church in Germany... here's the organ.
More of that really old and beautiful Church.
The town square in Trier... I like the old and new of this photo - great architecture and a cool monument, with a McDonalds sign in one of the windows of the building with the green roof.
Liam still sleeping across Europe... only catches about 1/2 the sights :)
Everyone loves a reason to celebrate.
Trier 4 Virtues statue.
Porta Nigra - The Roman Gate to the city of Trier
Mommy and Liam's turn.
The Gartenschau... we call it the Dino Park... is one of our favorite local hangouts. Benjamin gets so excited that kids are encouraged to play in a really cool stream that starts as a wasserspielplatz (water playground). There are numerous other playgrounds there along with mini golf, lots of great places to kick around a soccer ball (Ben's latest obsession) and really cool giant dinosaur statues.

It even has a little outdoor restaurant with a nearby brat stand...
and sometimes they have entertainment.
Here we are at a Schnapps house for a Squadron dinner.
Liam joined us, but wasn't allowed to try any Schnapps :)
Marc with his sampler.
Going on family walks has always been a favorite past time for us, and we've already found lots of great paths to explore.
One path in our village has rock statues... some we show the boys and a few we don't... there are a few statues that are a little too, um, European :)
Ben is getting so good on his balance bike. They're very popular here with preschoolers.
There are different festivals every weekend and we've had fun at a few of them so far... we look forward to many more. Here are a few pics of our first fest celebrating the French flamkuken dish.
They really love their mayo here... not my favorite, but it was fun to try. I think I'll go for the apple dessert one next time.
Benjamin loves all the natural playgrounds.
Liam loves watching his brother.
Look how high I can climb.
