Hello Heidelberg!

This is only one little day trip... and these pictures barely touch on our fun! No wonder I'm so behind. So without further ado, "hello Heidelberg"!

Such a fun city. Although I know we only scraped the surface of what it has to offer. Here are our favorite memories of our trip.

Finding a great little set of wine glasses for a euro a piece at a random corner where the "support the street cats of the city" society had a table of odds and ends for sale.

Cool letters erected in front of the main lecture building at the university as a gift by the Freudenberg Group in an attempt to encourage fund raising for renovations. They say "Dem lebendigen Geist" ("to the living spirit")... but cooler yet, is the fact that you can pull out the letters to spell BEN!

And here he is spelling his name!

Hopefully, this is the only time we'll see Benjamin in a student "jail"/detention facility :) This famous, and famously decorated, student jail housed student criminals who didn't keep their rooms neat, missed curfew, or were too rowdy. It was supposedly somewhat of an honor to have "done time" here.

My little travel buddy, by pack...

and by buggy. Just so happy to be with mommy... it doesn't matter where. Oh the places he's seen... all before his first birthday!

Grandma, Grandpa and the boys in front of a beautiful fountain with the castle behind them on top of the hill.

Getting ready to ride the tram up the hill.

One of the very best parts of traveling is discovering an experiencing the locations through the eyes of our boys... this was a total highlight.

M and I posing by the most romantic part of the castle... a stone gate that Frederick V had built for his new bride Princess Elizabeth of England, supposedly in one night. I really enjoy hearing all the fun stories behind the history.

So much fun sword fighting in a real castle, Grandma's the best!

Exploring and imagining all the knights and princesses and princes that lived here.

Looking down into a real moat.
And there's our little prince, in his carriage :)
Grandma pointing out all the sights in the city below.
What a view!
Grandma, Benjamin and Grandpa above Heidelberg.
Me and my little guy.
I liked the way the blue sky and clouds looked behind this decorated wall and windows.
Me and my little and medium sized guys. I'm trying to be in more of the pictures :)
I like all the cool time pieces on the buildings.
Check out this dapper dude :)
This picture doesn't look like much at first... but if you look a little closer, you will see an actual "manpri" sighting! The guy with the striped shirt, wearing a backpack and red shoes.
This is a statue of the dwarf that guarded the biggest wine barrel in the world.... he was a bit of a lush and is said to have passed because he had a drink of water.
Here's the giant wine barrel, that actually has a dance floor on the top.
My brave fireman knight :) You just can't get any better then this!
Taking time for tickles!
Wir haben eine Trinkpause.
Prost! They take the eye contact part seriously, a little too like minded these two :)
Our travel companions, GPO and GMO!
Many many more travel adventures to post about... lots of fun catch up to do. So I'll be back with the rest soon.
