We haven't really talked in length with Ben about the fact that he will be a big brother, God willing, in 7 and 1/2 months. But he's way to smart not to have picked up on the idea. That and, he's been in cahoots with our beloved babysitter Miss Carleen for a while now hoping for mom and dad to get their acts together and add to the family! Anyway, he recently told me that he wanted Jacob or Brenna, two of his best friends' younger siblings. So we had a little conversation to clarify, just in case he was wondering, that we would have our own little sister/brother someday who would be just as cool as, but not actually BE Jacob or Brenna. He seemed to take it well.
So I took the liberty of asking him what he thought would be a good name for a baby... he said "Pap".
To which I replied, "Pat? You like the name Pat, honey?"
And he further replied, "No, not Pa-tuh, Pa-Puh. Puh, mommy."
Me again, "You mean Tuh? Like a T makes?"
Him, "No mommy. Puh, puh like a P makes. PAP! That's what I said it is, Pap!"
So, what is more unsettling?
1. That he thinks a good name for the baby would be Pap... as in, well you know! I don't even want to write it :)
2. That he's schooling me with phonetics at the age of 2!
or
3. That he can't be one bit persuaded/distracted/convinced otherwise by me once he's set his mind to it.
love,
don't worry #2, we won't name you Pap!
