Hey sweet cheeks! I wanted to point out, or rather write down for future reference and nostalgia, how special I feel when I see a little of your father or myself in you! I love the way you walk like your daddy... and sleep like him! I love the way you sometimes watch TV sideways or scrunch up your eyes and smile like mommy.
But lately, I've seen a few of my traits coming through in you that make my heart skip a little beat. It shows me my own humanity,-up close and personal, it reminds me that you are a precious little guy full of feelings and dreams and desires, and it clearly demonstrates your desperate need for a Lord and Saviour-just like us all. Sometimes it makes me proud, and sometimes it causes me to worry. Isn't that motherhood in a nutshell :)
The two that stand out to me the most are your desire to please others and your very strong sense of justice. Trust me, from good experience, that these powers can be used both for good and for evil. They are some of my favorite things about myself and some of my least favorite, depending on the day and situation.
I've seen your desire to please others lead you to such dutiful obedience, sweet displays of affection, and ease of making friends. But I hope to also help you see that left unchecked it can lead you to compromising yourself for others, being so vulnerable that your feelings can get easily hurt, and losing the proper focus.
Likewise, your strong sense of justice makes you a willing sharer/turn taker/giver while at the same time a demander of what's due to you. It leads you to own up to your own mistakes and accept the consequences rather well, but also get really frustrated when others aren't held to the same standards. And finally, the underdog has a great confidant in you as you always seem to have a sense and follow through with such a loving heart when you find another in need-often something no one else notices. However, you don't always have the easiest time getting over being mistreated or seeing someone else mistreated... and I've had to intercede a few times when I can see a little vigilante action plan a brewing. So I can see that forgiveness will be an important skill to instill :)
Good thing I have such firsthand experience with such things! Hopefully you can learn from my mistakes while I'm sure you make a few of your own. But I'm so excited that I get to be here to help you get back up, dust yourself off, then drop to our knees together to seek God's guidance on becoming more like Him and less like us! I'm so blessed that we'll get to seek Him together!
