Let's go fly a kite...

Of course we chose the one non-windy day in Altus to fly kites... but we had fun nonetheless. Walmart had $1 specials on superhero, Barbie and Elmo kites, so our dear friends the Petersons and we made an afternoon of it! I had Liam in the baby Ergo carrier, which left Jill to get the kites up and flying. She explained to the kids that by running with the kite, you could keep it up in the air... and with that, the entertainment began!

Racing around like crazy sure is fun!

Ben enjoyed helping his superheros fly.

I was in near hysterics watching Jill run around to get a kite airborne, hand it off to Sydney who was giggling too hard to keep running, and thus it fell back down to the ground just in time for Jill to try again after getting Brenna's kite airborne. Jill got a great workout.Brenna with her "I'm so excited" face!
Sydney loved watching her kite, and exploring in the dirt.
Liam all snuggly in the carrier.
Funny out takes (I did come to their rescue after I took these pictures)
With people running every which way, and crossing paths, some tangling was bound to happen. Here Syd is trying to get herself out of a bit of a tangled mess.
The kite string was twisted behind Brenna's ear... but she was still smiling.
I really wanted to get a picture of Ben looking up at me and smiling, but didn't take into account that the sun was at my back. Poor thing, what a good boy to try to do what his mommy is requesting, even it it's burning his retinas :)
Daddy made it home for the last 15 minutes and had fun joining in on the action.

Which by then meant, "daddy you hold my kite while I dig around in the dirt".

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice. I had no idea I looked so ridiculous. I'm glad you were amused, though. ;-) It was fun!

one of the places I lived as a kid was El Paso and we used to fly kites in dirt fields (er..sandy fields) like that all the time - that totally brought back some fun memories!
