So Marc took joy in "lovingly" teasing me tonight about how I watch TV sideways. The funny thing is, Benjamin does it too. Anyway, it got me thinking about all the wonderfully unique and quirky things my beloved does.
I decided to make a list, for posterity sake :)
1. We absolutely can not stay at a hotel unless it has a "good enough" continental breakfast as part of the deal :)
2. He just isn't quite right until he's had his morning coffee (I think that comes straight from Omi :)) And if you add in a doughnut - hot dog! Does that make his morning!!!
3. Weather excites him! He loves it when there is some sort of weather alert so he can focus his energy on following it by the minute. He loves to talk about it as if it were THE absolute most pressing issue. I don't have the heart to remind him that, thank God!!!, we have pretty good shelter and defenses against most of what we face now a days. He makes all sorts of precious very grandfatherly comments about the sky's appearance with all sorts of cute 1950's wholesome phrases, like "will you look at those clouds, hoooooh! those puppies could drop quite a down pour on us!" I feel like saying "sure does Pops... better put those cows back in the barn!"
4. He does this absolutely awesome happy shake (I'm not sure how else to describe it, you'd just have to see for yourself) when he's really excited about something - and the best part is that it's usually about spending time with me! But it somewhat resembles a massive cold chill or a puppy shaking water off his fur.
5. He really does believe that sandwiches taste better if I fix them.
6. He makes up silly reasons to call his, or even my parents, again and again... even if we just spoke to them yesterday. (Which I now wholeheartedly believe - as a mother myself - is just about one of the best traits a son or son-in-law can have.)
7. He amazingly always feels an illness coming on or injury flaring up himself when I am under the weather. I don't get any less compassion and support, he just seems to want to join in on the pity party :)
8. He loves to romantically gather me up in his arms to dance in places and at times such as the kitchen during dinner prep... but he can never remember the words to any romantic songs - especially after having become a father - so we've danced to everything from 'jingle bells' to 'where is thumb kin' to my latest favorite 'twinkle twinkle little star'.
9. No matter how hard he tries, he cannot just let me cook a meal without offering some advice or jumping in to re flip the meat or change a heat setting.
10. He's not an incredibly stellar board game partner in anything having to do with the entertainment industry. But he really does try!
11. He often comes up with a really great idea he's excited to run by me... that just happens to be something I had just said to him anywhere from an hour to a day ago!
12. He gets very silly sleepy. Trying to talk to him when he's tired can be quite entertaining.
13. He has the most awesome original dance move in which he bounces one leg up and down, sort of hunches over a little bit, stretches his arms straight out in front of him and snaps his fingers while bouncing his head up a down. Once again, you just have to see it. The best thing about it though is that at least he'll dance with me!
14. Similar to my cooking, he is ALWAYS in my business when I'm driving. I often have to remind him that I've been driving AND flying longer then he has, and quite well I might add :)
15. He practically gets a nervous twitch when Ben is eating, doing or getting into something messy! It's almost humorous to see how hard he tries to control himself. I watched with glee the other morning as Benjamin was spooning yogurt into his precious little mouth... Marc must have caught 3 drips before they could even reach the table mat... the very easy to wipe up plastic table mats I have on our equally very easy to wipe up kitchen table! And I think poor Benjamin must have had about 10 face wipes in a 2 minute period.
16. I have three words for him personally :)... the rooster dance!
And that's just the beginning... I'll definitely be adding more, this was just too much fun!
love,
The Ever Adoring Wife
