Ben's Bedtime Routine:
1. Bath or shower where he must do most of his own washing and rinsing followed by brushing his teeth where he relishes the opportunity to "spit" with out being scolded for it - the only time all day he's realizing he can get away with it.
2. Change into jammies - the process of choosing which pair can be very lengthy and detailed if we let it... usually a superhero pair wins... which then must include a prop... a slingshot, a super cape... - sometimes all this inspires one last wrestling match for the evening or my favoritegame I like to call "that's very creative sweetheart but we need to put them on the right way... no not like a turbin, not like a mask either".
3. Locate Boz the bear.
4. Have a snack and drink, because his tummy is "really, really bad hungry". Preferably eaten in bed because it just tastes better there. And another bonus is that Mommy will let us out of bed again to wipe away the crumbs.
5. Read 3, exactly 3 stories... or have them "read" to us.
6. Discuss everything he can think of that happened that day, asking all the questions he feels hadn't been answered yet, discuss what everyone else might be doing at the time and what we will do when we wake up.
7. Say our prayers.
8. Flip his pillow umpteen times to get to the cool side.
9. Try covers on, then try covers off, then try covers on again and scrunched up at the end of the bed because nothing can be touching his toes.
10. Give hugs and kisses, make sure Mommy and Daddy give each other hugs and kisses, and that everyone hugs and kisses Liam, then wait for us to say, "Good night, sleep tight..." so he can respond "dream of BED BUGS tonight!"
