Liam's baptism

We had Liam baptized this past weekend. What a special ceremony it was. In the Methodist tradition we do infant baptism to dedicate the baby to God and to promise as a family and a congregation to raise him in faith. It is our hope and prayer that he will accept Jesus as his own personal Lord and Savior when he's old enough to make the decision for himself. In the Methodist tradition that is called confirmation (Marc and I both did it right before junior high). However he does it, in whatever tradition, our prayer for Liam is that he would become a Christian by his own accord when he is older. And we will do all we can to give him the best base of Christian love and education. How blessed we are to have wonderful churches, Christian friends and family members that will help us along on this wonderful journey. We thank God for this opportunity and for this precious child!
It was extra special that our dear friend and pastor Deb Teagan was able and willing to do the baptism. She will forever be a part of our lives and was with me from the beginning through my transition into stay-at-home mommyhood and becoming a mother of two. What a special lady, we just love her!

Liam was so calm and serene during the baptism, especially when she first put the water on his head. It's amazing to me how peaceful he looked, as if he knew this was a special and holy moment. He only started to make his "hey I'm waking up and should be fed now" face when she held him up for the congregation to see. Too cute!
