Where's his mommy!?!

"I don't know where his mommy is! I don't even know if he has a mommy!"

OK, I didn't really say that, but I have mentioned the "where's his mommy" thing before... Ben asks it all the time about everyone and everything... and it's getting more and more difficult to come up with creative answers that are supportive towards his need to know that everyone has the wonderful emotional stability that comes from a mommy who can love you through anything! I think recently, I just tell him that all the mommies are in the potty. Because any other response is quickly countered with either "I want to see her, go get her please." or "let's go find her" or "where is she, she need to come here right now." He at least understands that when you're in the potty you can't come right away and you should get a little privacy :)

I do love it though that he can't imagine life without the constant presence of his mommy, and he wants that same joy and comfort for everyone! I'm going to have to remember and cherish this memory when he tries to leave me to go hang out with his friends, heads to college and gets married himself someday.

I remember when Ben was really little hearing other mothers not take time to answer what I thought were innocent and sweet questions, or to answer them quickly and sometimes a little curtly. I thought it was pretty aweful of them! I still do, but I understand the motivation more. I often have to take a deep breath and remember that he's only asking for the 1000th time because he thinks mommies are pretty great!

okay, I almost spit out my goldfish crackers all over the computer monitor upon reading you're now telling Ben all the mommies are in the bathroom! HAHA!

I thought that was pretty funny too.
It's awesome how motherhood brings to light just how creative you really are on a moments notice!

Also, it's awesome that Ben only knows a world with everyone having a mommy...just as it should be.
