We went on a special after Christmas trip to Triberg Germany to attend their New Years Market. Triberg is in the Black Forrest area of Germany. It is absolutely breathtaking, right out of a fairy tale! The forest was magical and covered in a beautiful blanket of snow. We only got a small taste of this fabulous region and are already planning another trip back. Wood carving, bee keeping, black forest (cherry cake) and of course the forest are some of the special things about this area. Triberg is also the home of Germany's highest waterfall... which was the highlight of our trip. They decorate the forest path that leads up to the waterfall with thousands upon thousands of lights... and all along the way there are food and specialty booths along with stages with various performing artists. And once you reach the waterfall, you are rewarded with a pretty spectacular fire show. What a treat! After the show, we walked back down through the market to a great restaurant and enjoyed some authentic foods from the region including a piece of black forest cake. Here are some of our favorite memories from the trip!
Benjamin enjoying a "little" snack while waiting for the show to start.
I'm so excited a few of the pictures came out... it was quite a show!
This was the finale.
Having a taste of the famous dessert from the region... notice our fabulous hat hair and rosy cheeks and noses, cold doesn't begin to describe the temperature outside! I kept Liam inside my jacket to make sure he was warm enough!
Our chairs were pretty cool... showcasing the area's wood carving skills.
This trip was taken on a bus tour and our kids were great, thankfully :)
Benjamin and I made a tent to hide under on the way home, he was pretty excited about his crazy static electricity charged hair.
Daddy joined in while mommy tried to get Liam to fall asleep. I could hear them scheming and giggling!
