Ready for Buuuh-lift Off!

Quickly climbing the coolness charts in Ben's world are... ROCKETS! His daddy has great memories of flying rockets with his father and brother... and was very excited to carry the tradition on with his own son. I started them off small (and safe, for that matter :)) with an air pump rocket. But you would have thought they were launching a real one from the NASA Space Center! Too cute!

Benjamin has excellent vocabulary and pronuciation skills. In fact, I don't really have many cute mispronuciations recorded because he says just about everything the right way. But... when he's really excited - as he was with this rocket launch - he can't always decide if he wants to yell "ready for blast off" or "ready for lift off". So sometimes it comes out as "REAAAADY FOR Buuh-LIFT OFF!"

Daddy starts him off with an explanation and a demo - wow, I didn't realize this thing could go 50 feet! Then he set it up for Ben to try.

He actually started getting it to go pretty high himself!
Great toy design! Very easy to set up and operate letting him feel like he's a big boy and in control of this very important operation!
This launch had great sound effects, hence the pursed lips and clenched fists :)
A big part of the fun was setting it back up himself. He's very good at sharing and was excited to get it ready for daddy or me.He's already anticipating a big lift off!
It's been so much fun watching Benjamin embrace all the boy things at the same time his girl friends are insisting they are princesses or ballarinas. We're mostly trucks, dinosaurs, firemen, cowboys and ROCKETS around here! Mixed in with some extreme sports... good thing I found a good set of wrist/elbow/knee guards recently.
