I'm realizing the need, even more so, to pretty much go all the way with B on this whole potty training business... I've been pretty laid back after learning and hearing about how you can cause a lot more damage then good by forcing or pressuring... but the little dude seems more then ready and I don't want to be so lackadaisical about it that he gets confused. So, this morning I explained that as soon as we wake up and at regular intervals during the day we were going to go in and sit on the potty. In addition to any time he wanted to.
B said OK and off we went.
He chose the big potty, with his new seat inserted, sat down and proceeded to do all his business right away. I said "good job buddy" and clapped... which apparently might be OK for the mother of a 2 year old... but now that he's 2 and 2 months it was so NOT cool.
"Stop mom! You don't clap for me! You just sit there. You don't yell. You don't clap at all. You don't look at me and you don't clap."
"Oh, well sorry buddy I was just proud of you. But I get it. I'll just sit here."
"Mom?"
"Yes Ben?" (being careful not to look at him)
"I still need a sticker."
"OK sweetheart. You definitely get a sticker." (with a giggle)

We loved the "Potty" story. Ben is the best! P.S. You are never too old to earn a sticker. :-)
