Liam's 1! Here's a recap of November, his 12th month!

Hi everyone, it's me again. Mommy says it's time for another monthly update! Apparently this month is extra special around our house because somebody very important is turning one!
I'm not sure who it could be...
Oh that's right... IT'S ME!!!
I am turning into quite the mini me of my daddy, the similarities between us at this age really stand out to my Omi (daddy's mommy).
My mommy wonders just where my new "spunk" is coming from :) I think she's just a little surprised because I've been so laid back and easy going for so long... and now I've found my voice, or rather my extra loud terodactyl growl, for when I feel I'm being treated unfairly. I try to hold back, but I just can't help myself when I see my big brother with something in his hands that I simply must have!

But she still adores me, of course! I've got it pretty darn good with these two... although they have a tendency to be a little overly huggy and kissy :)
And now onto my favorite big brother, well sure he's my only big brother, but he is the coolest! I want to do what he does, eat what he eats, play with what he's playing with and even wear what he's wearing!
He doesn't mind though! So far I think he actually thinks I am just as cool!
We make a really good team, don't we?
He's teaching me all sorts of cool stuff.
And introducing me to all sorts of new foods... mostly when he decides it's something he doesn't want to eat... but I don't mind. Mommy says I'm a lot like a commercial that used to be on when she was little where a big brother gave his little brother all sorts of things he didn't want because he know his little brother would eat it for him. Maybe they should have named me "Mikey" :)
Sometimes mommy has to remind him that we still have to be careful what we give to our "baby brother" and ask mommy first. Some things aren't appropriate yet, whatever that means. I'm up for any challenge though!
And I will not be fooled by presentation anymore. If he doesn't need everything cut up into tiny little pieces, neither do I! I need to practice using these chompers anyway.
But man, mommy sure does hover while I attempt it. Chill out mom, I'm a chewing master!
I'm finally good at using my sippy cup by myself. I was holding out for the real cup for a few months but finally realized that I wasn't going to be allowed to take it with me when I'm zipping around the house yet, so I caved. Daddy says life will be much easier for me if I give in a little more easily to mommy's requests, as silly as they may seem at times, because girls like it when you do that. But where's the fun in that!?! Daddy just smiles and says I still have much to learn, good thing I'm still so cute and cuddly!
And I know how to ask for what I want and say when I'm through. I have both signs and words for all sorts of messages I want to convey...
including, "GIVE ME THAT CAMERA... IT'S MY TURN TO TAKE YOUR PICTURE!"
Oh, and I am learning to feed myself with a spoon! Daddy was a little nervous this time. Mommy says he's still working on letting go of his OCD when it comes to a less than tidy eating experience.
I don't know why it would bother him though, I'm really good at it! And I think it's just about the funnest thing ever! Mommy says I'm getting pretty good at it actually :)
Of course, she just oooooo's and ahhhhhh's over everything I do. Especially when it involves my "adorable cupcake footsies" (her words, not mine :))! She's always staring at them and kissing them and talking about them... and taking pictures of them of course!
I think she has more pictures of my feet doing something simply adorable... then she does of anything else I do :)
As for the rest of my looks, even though I seem to favor my daddy a little lately...
I totally have my mommy's sweet squinty smile!
Did you get the picture mom?
If not, I can do it again for you!
I still love taking baths, especially with my big brother to splash at! It's payback time mister :)
He's a great buddy to do all sorts of stuff with! Mommy seems to relax a little more when he joins me in certain activities. I appreciate it too, especially when I'm trying to get over a little PTSD from meeting the Disney characters this past Fall :)
I'm very busy all day. I'm a big big helper around the house. One of my jobs is checking the hinges on all the lower cabinets. I take this very seriously!
And I help mommy with the dishes. I think this chore would be a complete bore without me! At least I hear mommy mumble something like that under her breath while she looks like she's trying to smile :)
At the beginning of the month I could only reach the silverware holder. But I know that I was still a huge help... I made sure to quality check every piece she put in, and thought it was absolutely hysterical when she freaked out every time I pretended like I was going to lick one!
But, by the end of the month I could help a whole lot more!
Mommy is so thankful she keeps bringing more and more toys into the kitchen for me to play with as a reward... and tells me that I shouldn't work so hard :)
But I'm no quitter! I stay at it until the job is done, or the door is closed. I know I'm really helping though, because mommy is so much quicker at the dishes now and just doesn't seem to have to do them as often :)
I have been playing on my knees for a long long time now...
But decided this month that I wanted to pull myself up to a stand on a regular basis to mix it up a little!
Sometimes I can't tell if my brother thinks it's a good thing though. I hear a lot of "LIIIIIAM"'s before mommy rushes in and talks him down. I don't see what the big deal is :)
I was extra excited to find that there was another shelf full of things to play with in the kitchen!
And I love to help mommy rearrange the items stored there... I get so into it that sometimes I let go of my support without even realizing it and do a little standing on my own!
But pulling up to a stand just isn't enough anymore... I decided to start working on climbing!
I'm going to enjoy it all I can before the cuteness wears off and mommy and daddy put up a gate.
Then again, maybe that would be a good idea afterall! Looks like mommy's going to be busy teaching me the "turn on your belly and slide off backwards" move!
I've already learned so many things just by watching her. Like how to style my hair!
These things are very uncomfortable, I wonder why she wears them.
I also like to practice all the tricks my big brother has taught me, like hitting myself and saying "ouch".
Every time I see a tissue, I want to practice blowing my nose. Mommy laughs that I'm better at blowing my nose and using a fork then most 2, 3, 4 and 5 year olds she knows :)
I do enjoy pulling those tissues out of the box. What an absolutely fantastic invention those pop up tissues were!
Oh, and I discovered coloring this month... so much fun!
I just love to be praised for my creations!
And even though the stairs are now off limits, my mommy and daddy build the coolest obstacle courses for me to climb over. I love it!
I have lots of great easily accessible toys that my silly mommy keeps trying to line up neatly on shelves and in baskets like this. I don't let them suffer for long though... I am especially good at spreading them out across the entire bottom floor.
I don't just like my toys though, my big brother has some great ones too! Mommy was slightly horrified that I figured out the ball gun so quickly. It's ingrained :)
And I'm quite good at soccer already, just like my big brother and daddy! The net can be a little tricky though :)
So we rounded out the month with my birthday of course! They made a cake for me on my special day, with my party soon to follow. I was VERY excited about the cake at first...
But the texture was just a little too foreign to me.
I did discover how much fun it was to throw it a round a little!
And REALLY enjoyed a little vanilla ice cream on the side.
So there you have it... I'm a big one year old now. Mommy still can't believe how much I've grown!
Even though she's been here for every second of it, man she's silly!
It sure is fun being one!

And now for the extra tidbits she wants to remember:
- Liam likes to lick windows and the floor, yuck! My reaction, of course, has done nothing but encourage his silly antics.
- He also tries to pull himself up on the toilet, yuck again! Although I suppose I can understand the curiosity since it makes such cool noises and everyone else in the family likes to sit on it so often :)
- He is still love love loving opening and closing cabinet doors.
- He follows me everywhere and pulls up on my legs, which works every time of course!
- He's turning into a crazed little monster that attacks us with his wrestling moves... thanks for that big brother Benjamin :)
- He's so smart! He has many many words and signs. He added "water" and loves to do how big is Liam... ending in tickles!
- We're having fun in kindermusik, going to MOPS with mommy and watching his big brother do karate and soccer.
- He loves to announce what we're doing, are about to do, or what's happening around us... especially when it involves our dog Chloe who he refers to as "Chlo".
- His favorite toys are whatever Ben is playing with, balls that make will make noise and bounce when hurled across our marble tiles and my new dining room furniture (especially the French iron farm gate doors on the buffet and the bars under the dining room table).
- On the 15th he discovers climbing up and down (crawling) a small ledge/mat and over the next week he decides to try increasing heights.
- On Nov 16th, I turned around to find him on top of daddy's suitcase one day, smiling, so proud of himself. The climbing has just taken off from here.
- He tackles me and growls at me all the time, he's really starting to play rough with me, total little boy!
- But he's still so sweet and loving too! He will give me, and also daddy and Benjamin hugs and kisses all the time. And loves to pat our backs!
- He loves to push himself up into a kneel in the middle of the floor and take survey of the room, it's pretty funny to watch.
- He's starting to fuss for everything we have because he wants it too.
- He's trying all sorts of new foods, eatting more and more what we eat.
- He still loves tug of war.
- He still loves the pick up things and throw them behind his back to an undisclosed location... he's pretty fast at emptying out any container of items this way :)
- He still LOVES to pull off his socks to reveal those precious bare tootsies!
- He is very serious about the pass things back and forth game, loves to play it over and over and is so cute trying to say "here you go" and "thank you" which sound like "de ah doh" and "dat dat".
- He has both real and undiscerable words and sounds he repeats over and over... but has recently added a very specific "ah gung gul gung gung gu" that I'm still trying to figure out because it's clear that he means something by it.
- He is a really fast little bugger and when he decides he wants to get somewhere he stays focused! His crawling is so speedy now.
- He loves to play in his kitchen, take books off the book shelf and open and close doors and cabinets over and over.
- He still likes to hide from us.
- He is so smart, figuring out how things work and why they don't when they don't.
- He has pushed himself up to a stand on lower items like the bottom step, but by the 21st he's pulling up on everything and all out climbs the stairs.
- Just beginning to furniture surf a little... his legs are still so straight and cute when he tries to move them!
That's it for November... month 12, I can hardly believe it!
