Our new Village and Haus

When we first arrived, we drove and drove through one village after another. I knew as soon as we saw Rodenbach, that this was our village! It just felt right and looked right and I just knew it was where we should live. We found a house, the kindergarten had a spot for Benjamin and Marc would only have a 10 minute commute. God was so good to us! So here's a little overview... there are 6 playgrounds and lots of great bike and walking paths, some paved and some forested.

Welcome to our village, Rodenbach.
Where the Church bells ring every day at noon.

We have 3 bus stops and even one pay phone booth, Ben thought that was pretty cool.

We have 2 Italian restaurants, one with a great ice cream parlor and another with delicious pizza they even deliver, and 1 grill that is always teaming with police because their practice shooting range in underground with the entrance in the basement. This is the Italian restaurant closest to our house that also happens to be right on the soccer field.

The soccer fields, where Benjamin has recently started soccer... so fun!

The big investment building right by our house. They never turn their lights on unless it's night time so it's hard to know when they're working. But I think they keep odd hours anyway to be open for other countries' markets.

Our street.

Driving towards our home in our little neighborhood.

Benjamin has such a great area to ride his bike/scooter/etc.
We're number 9 on the far right.

Here is our front porch.
And now Ben's showing you the way back out.

Back down the hill. The flower shop and bakery coming up on the left.
Our village bier garten and fountain are located here by the Italian restaurant and ice cream parlor.
This is our bakery a little closer. My favorite is the kranzkuchen, Marc's is the streusel and Benjamin's is the brezel!
And here is the fire station/community hall.
The odd "coming of age" celebration pole thingie.
I'll do some inside pictures of our haus this week!
