Rodenbach Christmas Market

Our village held it's Christmas Market this past Saturday evening in the main square in front of Benjamin's kindergarten. It was really nice. Benjamin donned a Santa hat with his classmates and sang a few songs for the crowd. Then, St. Nicholas rode in on a large standing-sort of chariot style-tricycle pulled by a HUGE black dog. Following him were 6 more big dogs all pulling their own wagons full of presents. St. Nicholas then handed out a gift to every child there. What fun! And finally we visited the many craft, goodies, treat and food stalls... enjoying a pretzel, a crepe and a few bags of candied almonds. It was a special evening.

My adorable caroler!
Benjamin was in the back, that's what we get for arriving on time :)

Santa's ride.
The whole dog thing was pretty cool. Benjamin did ask where the reindeer were :)

I just love Bernese Mountain dogs!
Getting a gift from Saint Nick.
Once we got back home, Benjamin opened his gift. He thought it was quite strange and pretty funny that St Nicholas thought an orange would be a good idea :) And he was excited to try the German sweets.
Liam slept through a large portion of it, but I know he'll be excited next year!
